Atalanta vs Marseille - Ademola Lookman

Following their 1-1 draw in the first leg, Atalanta and Olympique Marseille clashed heads at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo for the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals. The Italians were simply the superior side from start to finish, managing to seal a historic qualification to a European final thanks to goals from Ademola Lookman, Matteo Ruggeri and El Bilal Touré. So here are our player ratings for Atalanta who will meet Bayer Leverkusen in the grand finale after beating Marseille 3-0 on the night (4-1 on aggregate).

Atalanta (3-4-2-1)

Juan Musso – 5.5

The Argentine didn’t have an awful lot to do, but was almost beaten by Jordan Vertout’s long-range effort as he misjudged the direction of the ball. He was luckily saved by the post.

Berat Djimsiti – 7

A no-nonsense display from the Albanian who bossed his area and gave no chance to Ilman Ndiaye.

Isak Hien – 7

The Swedish defender kept the legendary Pierre-Emerick Aubameyan in his pocket all night.

Marten De Roon – 6.5

The Atalanta captain started the match as part of the backline before returning to his original midfield role in the second half. Never missed a beat either way.

Davide Zappacosta – 6.5

A generous display from the former Chelsea man who made himself busy at both ends. He even had a crack at goal but at times lacked the final touch.

Ederson – 6.5

A dominant display in the middle of the park from the Brazilian, but he was hauled off early in the second half after earning himself a yellow card.

Teun Koopmeiners – 7

The Dutchman never stopped running. Bossed the middle of the park and was always at the center of the build-up while making sure to track back and support his teammates at the back.

Matteo Ruggeri – 7.5

A night to remember for the young Italian who scored an astonishing goal with his weaker right foot following a give-and-go with Lookman. He was also vital in the defensive phase.

Charles De Ketelaere – 6

The Belgian started on the right side of the attacking trident. Tested Pau Lopez with a powerful header but should have done better on another two occasions. Showed flashes of brilliance before being replaced at the hour mark.

Ademola Lookman – 8

A superb display from the Nigerian who broke the deadlock with a deflected shot before setting up the assist for Ruggeri’s goal. A man-of-the-match display from the striker who often rises to the big occasions.

Gianluca Scamacca – 6

The Italian striker almost scored with a header but was denied by the post. He was also involved in several Atalanta chances but Gian Piero Gasperini decided to sub him off early in the second half.

Substitutes

Giorgio Scalvini – 6.5

The youngster added more solidity to the back three.

Aleksei Miranchuk – 6

An energetic display from the Russian but couldn’t inflict damage in the box.

Mario Pasalic – 6.5

The Croatian made sure Atalanta controlled the middle of the park with his smooth passing and hard-working ethics.

El Bilal Touré – 7

The Malian put the exclamation point on the victory with a last-second goal. Won back possession himself, outpaced his marker and then slotted it expertly past the goalkeeper.

Hans Hateboer – N/A
