Barcelona manager not making life ‘as easy as it might be’ for talented youngster

1 week ago 13

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has barely used Vitor Roque since the Brazilian teenager arrived in the winter transfer window, with just 310 minutes to his name, none of which came in the Champions League or their fixtures against closest rivals Real Madrid and Girona. After his agent declared that Roque would not leave the club on loan, his future is up in the air.

Andre Cury remarked that his client would either start playing or be sold, while at the club, there have been leaks that they are not particularly impressed with his stance, and will pay it little mind. Matteo Moretto has now revealed to Football España that Xavi has not given Roque the softest landing since he joined the Catalan giants, as evidenced by his lack of minutes in the first team. Cury is set for further talks with Barcelona about his future in the coming weeks.

It’s been made clear in recent months that Roque was not a priority for Xavi in January, and yet the deal was brought forward from this summer. At a club where politics tend to impact decisions heavily, and Sporting Director Deco heavily involved in striking a deal for Roque, it’s fair to wonder if the 19-year-old’s has as much to do with a power play between Xavi and Deco.
