Barcelona dealt financial blow as 22-year-old rejects move to Saudi Arabia – “I’m going to succeed”

It’s been a difficult season for Ez Abde. Having opted to leave Barcelona at the start of the campaign in favour of a move to Real Betis, the 22-year-old has struggled for prominence in recent months, having played less than 30 combined minutes for Los Verdiblancos since the end of February.

Despite this, Abde does not regret joining Betis last summer, and he told Diario AS that he is hoping for better going forward.

“I don’t regret signing for Betis for a second. I spoke to my family, we made the decision and I still think I got it right. I’m happy in Sevilla and at the club, I love the fans and the Benito Villamarin. I get goosebumps every time I go out on the field and hear them sing the anthem.”

In recent weeks, Abde has been linked with a possible move away in the summer, with AC Milan and clubs in Saudi Arabia showing in his services. However, he’s only thinking about staying in Andalusia for next season.

“I’m going to succeed at Real Betis, I want to. And may next year become the best season of my life.”

Barcelona will be disappointed if Abde doesn’t move on this summer, as they have a 50% sell-on that would be activated in the event of a sale. That money would be very valuable, given their ongoing financial woes.
