ARSENAL’S hopes of a double are over after they suffered defeat at Bayern Munich.

Having drawn 2-2 at the Emirates last week, Joshua Kimmich scored the only goal as the Gunners were beaten 3-2 on aggregate at the Allianz in the Champions League.

The game was a cagey affair throughout the opening period as neither side gave an inch.

And that meant that there were also limited opportunities, intensifying the pressure on each set of players ahead of the second half.

But Bayern almost made the perfect start as they were only denied a breakthrough by the woodwork.

Leon Goretzka’s header bounced back off the bar before Raphael Guerreiro’s effort from the rebound was scrambled away by David Raya, via the post, for a corner.

Bayern continued to ramp up the pressure and they got their reward in the 63th minute.

Joshua Kimmich raced through three Arsenal defenders to power a header home from Guerreiro’s cross.

And despite plenty of huffing and puffing, the visitors were unable to force a way back as Bayern’s defence held firm.
