Brazil announce Copa America squad with six La Liga inclusions and more Girona than Barcelona players

1 week ago 10

Brazil have announced their Copa America squad for this summer, with a total of six La Liga inclusions. With just five exceptions, all of Dorival Junior’s 23-man squad come from La Liga, the Premier League and Serie A in Brazil.

Real Madrid have the most inclusions of any club side, with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes in the squad, as well as Eder Militao, despite the latter missing most of the season through an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Future Real Madrid forward Endrick Felipe is also included.

Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque made his debut last year, but has been left out. Teammate Raphinha has been included, following a strong run of form in the second half of the season. They are not the Catalan side with most Brazilians in the squad though, as Girona‘s Savio Moreira and Yan Couto are also called up.

With the tournament taking place in the United States, Brazil will face Colombia and Paraguay in their group, and hope to leave behind a poor run in 2023, having been beaten in Colombia and by Uruguay too.
