Fabrizio Romano rules out Liverpool move for highly-rated manager

In regards to Liverpool’s links with highly regarded Bologna manager Thiago Motta, 41, Fabrizio Romano has offered his thoughts.

Liverpool are not interested in Motta, according to Fabrizio Romano on GiveMeSport.

Since Jurgen Klopp made his impending exit from Anfield known, the Reds have been searching the market for a replacement manager.

The Merseyside club, nevertheless, have decided not to pursue the highly regarded 41-year-old Bologna boss.

Romano told GiveMeSport:

“Honestly, I didn’t hear anything about these two names. With Niko Kovac, nothing at all, and also with Thiago Motta at the moment I’m not getting anything concrete with Liverpool.

“He’s doing a fantastic job at Bologna, but at the moment I’m not hearing anything serious in terms of contact with English clubs in general.”

Since taking over as manager of Bologna in 2022, Motta has been a sensation in Serie A.

He has managed Genoa and Spezia for brief periods of time before taking on Bologna, his third position as a senior manager.

But in the past two years at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium, his reputation has taken off.

During his playing career, the 41-year-old was a very skilled midfield player who was recognised for his keen vision and aptitude at reading the game.

His management style reflects such attributes, as Bologna plays a visually striking brand of football.

Liverpool are keeping an eye on a number of highly regarded managers, including Motta.

Fabrizio Romano, however, has refuted rumors that the 41-year-old, will take Klopp’s position at Anfield before the 2024–2025 season.

The Reds have other managers on their wish list, with Ruben Amorim now holding the top spot.

Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton and Pep Lijnders, Klopp’s current assistant, have both been connected to the position.

It’s still unclear what Liverpool will decide but with the season about to end, they are ready to step up their chase.
