Arkadiusz Milik, Lazio vs Juventus, Coppa Italia

At the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Lazio hosted Juventus in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. The Bianconeri entered the match with a two-goal cushion on aggregate, but Taty Castellanos’ brace restored parity. Yet, despite having the momentum in their favor, the Biancocelesti couldn’t finish the job. Instead, Max Allegri brought in Timothy Weah and Arkadiusz Milik who combined to score the all-important goal for the Bianconeri. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who advanced to the cup final despite losing 1-2 on the night against Lazio.

Juventus (3-5-2)

Mattia Perin – 6

The Italian goalkeeper was blameless on the opener and could do little about the second, but did well to deny Castellanos from close range in the first half.

Danilo – 5

A poor display from the Juventus captain who looked shaky on several occasions. Played Castellanos onside ahead of the second Lazio goal.

Gleison Bremer – 5.5

The former Torino man pulled off some vital clearances towards the end of the match, but his outing was marred by the blunder that allowed Castellanos to score his second strike when he was easily shrugged off the ball.

Alex Sandro – 4.5

It’s difficult to comprehend what the Brazilian veteran brings to the table at this point, especially when he seems to give away goals almost every time he starts a match. Allowed Castellanos to nod home the opener unchallenged.

Andrea Cambiaso – 5.5

The former Genoa man didn’t find much joy on the right wing, especially against the defensively-sound Adam Marusic. Complained against his exit, but it proved to be the correct decision.

Weston McKennie – 6

A hardworking display from the American as ever, but his touch wasn’t always on cue, though he almost set up Vlahovic inside the six-yard box.

Manuel Locatelli – 5.5

The Euro 2020 winner will miss the final after picking up a yellow card, but amid his dip in form, it might not big that big of a deal for Juventus after all. He just hasn’t been able to assert his authority in midfield these days.

Adrien Rabiot –  6

The Frenchman started on a bright note and made himself involved in the attacking plays while retrieving the ball at the back. But his impact dwindled as the minutes progressed.

Filip Kostic – 5.5

The left winger hardly made himself noticed aside from a few corner kicks, but at least he played a small part in Juve’s decisive goal.

Dusan Vlahovic – 5.5

The Serbian is Lazio’s ultimate bogeyman but couldn’t inflict damage this time around. Had an opportunity to score in each half but couldn’t put it past Mandas.

Federico Chiesa – 6

The Italy international was the main source of creativity for Juventus in the first half but eventually ran out of steam. But he deserves the plaudits for running hard all over the pitch.

Substitutes

Timothy Weah – 7

The USMNT international turned on the heat on the right flank following his introduction and provided the assist for Milik’s winner.

Arkadiusz Milik – 7

The Polish marksman put Juventus in the final by scoring the all-important with the first touch following his introduction. The Bianconeri didn’t need him to make a second touch afterwards.

Kenan Yildiz – N/A

Carlos Alcaraz – N/A
