In recent days, there has been increased speculation on the future of Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood, who is currently having a productive loan spell at Getafe. The 22-year-old has eight goals and six assists in La Liga this season, and this – along with his overall performances – has led to interest building in his services.

It has been reported that Getafe are in talks with Man Utd to extend Greenwood’s loan deal by an additional 12 months, although Fabrizio Romano has told The Daily Briefing that the Premier League giants’ main intention is to sell the one-time England international on a permanent basis, rather than looking for another temporary arrangement.

“I already reported that Man United are prepared to cash in on Mason Greenwood and the situation hasn’t changed.

“Man United will wait for permanent transfer proposals because the priority is a sale in order to make profit for Financial Fair Play, although Getafe still hope to keep him on loan.”

Atletico Madrid are one of the clubs keen to sign Greenwood permanently, although they are currently unwilling to pay the asking price that has been set by Man Utd. They would need it to be lowered in order for a deal to happen, although it remains to be seen whether that actually happens.
