Milan CEO Spills the Beans on a Few Hot-Button Matters

Milan chief Giorgio Furlani spoke candidly about several topics participating in DAZN’s talk show Supertele (via Mediaset).

“It’s too soon to judge the season. We’ll see in the final months. We have 12 points more than last year at this stage. It was a pity to be eliminated from the Champions League early, but the group was tough.”

The exec looked ahead at the summer window.

“Our philosophy is to improve the squad. We changed a lot last year because it was necessary. We’ll be more surgical. We mustn’t pull off coups just because, threatening the business continuity. We don’t need bombastic signings but useful ones.”

Furlani was quizzed about Milan potentially selling a top player.

“It’s not true that we need to cash in on somebody to make up for the losses. We’re in the black, so we can invest. Rafael Leao, Mike Maignan, and Theo Hernandez are happy to stay and have long-term contracts.”

The official hinted at Olivier Giroud leaving.

“He has made history with us and is still playing at a high level. We weren’t shy on the market in the past and won’t be again if needed.”

Furlani dished on the structure of the Milan hierarchy and Stefano Pioli.

“There’s a lot of buzz about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the buck stops with RedBird and Gerry Cardinale. There’s a group underneath him. He has a lot of influence on the sports side. The coach has done well, but we’re focused on the final games. He’s an exquisite person.”

AC Milan CEO Furlani: “There are no talks now ongoing for Joshua Zirkzee deal… and even if there were talks, I’d never tell you!”, told DAZN.
