12 Real Madrid are prepared to offer defender Ferland Mendy a new contract this summer.
The French international has found himself at the centre of ongoing transfer speculation with Los Blancos considering a push for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.
However, with progress on a deal for Davies unclear, the newly crowned La Liga champions are planning for contingencies.
Carlo Ancelotti was previously unconvinced by Mendy’s defensive game at the highest level with the Italian coach unhappy with his performances last season.
The situation has changed completely in the 2023/24 campaign, with Mendy now the clear fist choice pick at left back, and Ancelotti’s concerns have eased.
As per the latest reports from Marca, a renewal for Mendy is now a priority for Real Madrid, with his current deal expiring in 2025.
The 28-year-old could be offered an extension until 2028, with interest from the Premier League expected to be rebuffed, regardless of a move for Davies in the months ahead.
