15 Liverpool are keen on signing the Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer at the end of the season.
Arne Slot is expected to take over at Anfield after the departure of Jurgen Klopp. Naturally, there have been links with Feyenoord players. It will be interesting to see if the Dutch manager decides to bring Wieffer with him to the Premier League club.
A report from Fichajes claims that the 24-year-old defensive midfielder has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs with his performances in the Eredivisie this season. Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle are keen on the player as well.
It is no surprise that Liverpool are looking at the defensive midfielder and they would do well to secure his services. Although Liverpool signed Wataru Endo at the start of the season, the Japanese international is in his 30s and Liverpool need to plan for the future.
The 24-year-old Dutchman could prove to be the ideal acquisition this summer. He will add defensive cover to the midfield and allow players like Alexis Mac Allister to operate with more freedom.
Wieffer is adept at shielding the back four and breaking up opposition attacks. Liverpool need someone with his skillset next season. They have previously tried to sign players like Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, highlighting the fact that a defensive midfielder is needed.
